SUMMARY
Zambia National Farmers’ Union (ZNFU) is a member based Organization founded in the early 1905. The ZNFU’s mission is to promote the interests of members as farmers, individuals, corporations/companies and other organizations involved in the business of farming. ZNFU is also linked with the Southern region farmers union through Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) and a member of Paris based International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) which unites farmers’ organizations worldwide and Currently ZNFU hold’s Presidency of IFAP.
In the quest to ensure delivery of member services ZNFU introduced it’s Market Information Service (MIS) in October 2006. The MIS is an SMS and web based service which offers commodity price information for major agricultural commodities. Currently there are ten (10) crops and four (4) livestock listed on the service.
The ZNFU MIS is branded and goes by the name ZNFU 4455 to remind users of the short code number to send their requests to. More details are in the presentation to be made.
